Position Overview

We are looking for an exceptionally bright, highly motivated, detail-oriented accounting professional who is excited to get in on the ground floor and help scale the accounting infrastructure of a rapidly growing cannabis manufacturing company.  The ideal candidate will play a key role in leading the company’s accounting functions, while also rolling up their sleeves as necessary to handle the day-to-day accounting responsibilities. Reporting initially to the CEO, you will collaborate closely with the management team to provide financial visibility into operations and have the opportunity to grow as a leader within the organization.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead month-end and year-end close and reconciliations; oversee inventory reconciliations and inventory on hand reports

  • Manage AR/AP and follow up on past due accounts; review invoice approval and coding

  • Maintain general ledger to ensure account balance accuracy

  • Conduct budget variance analyses and review with management

  • Collect, analyze and present data to quantify cost accounting metrics by product, including raw materials, labor, overhead allocations, and break-even analysis

  • Manage tax filings and returns, working with outside tax consultants as needed; assist with any audits to ensure compliance

  • Stay abreast of the latest financial, regulatory, and legislative developments; proactively address potential issues to ensure compliance

  • Develop and document business and accounting processes; help us build our “accounting operating system” consisting of best practices and internal controls

Ideal Qualifications and Skills

  • 4+ years of relevant accounting experience with progressive responsibilities

  • Solid understanding of cost accounting; experience working with production/manufacturing personnel to accurately track and optimize costs a plus

  • Quickbooks wizard; experience with Quickbooks Enterprise for Manufacturing highly preferred

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; ability to build dynamic reports using pivot tables, queries and lookups

  • Experience building budgets and forecasts using historical data and thoughtful assumptions

  • Data geek that likes to build dashboards and reports that provide real-time insight into the company’s financial performance and KPIs

  • Sound knowledge of GAAP; bonus points for 280e experience and compliance with cannabis-specific tax regulations

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • CPA preferred


Salary ranges from $60,000-$80,000 depending on experience.  In addition, we offer competitive stock option plans, benefits packages, a chill work environment and other employee perks.
